While the 2026 NBA Draft may have ended, the Chicago Bulls were not done with their roster revamp. Chicago kept momentum by adding Providence guard Jaylin Sellers and Arizona forward Tobe Awaka on two-way contracts, per Dushawn London of 247Sports and ESPN Senior NBA Insider Shams Charania.

However, this does not mean the revamp is done with free agency still left.

The two additions

Sellers, the Big East scoring champion in the 2025-26 season, averaged 18.3 points per game on 47.3% shooting from the field and 42.9% shooting from beyond the arc.

Sellers led the best-scoring team in the Big East, as Providence had the highest points per game in the conference.

At Providence, Sellers scored well off the dribble. His higher shooting percentages, particularly from 3-point range, are a nice addition to the Bulls. If he can score off the dribble when needed and be a threat with catch-and-shoot threes, Chicago could have picked up a good player for the 2026-27 roster.

The Bulls also added more offensive depth at the guard position with Sellers. This will be crucial if Anfernee Simons and Collin Sexton leave in free agency.

As for Awaka, in the 2025-26 season, he averaged 9.3 points and 9.1 rebounds per game. He shot 58.7% from the field to go along with that.

Awaka is a player who can be fed the ball inside, particularly in a smaller lineup situation, as he is listed at 6’8”. If out there with Josh Giddey in a smaller lineup, Giddey should be able to give him good looks to score inside.

A look ahead to free agency

Starting at 5 p.m. CT on June 30, teams can start negotiating with free agents who ended the 2025-26 season on other teams’ rosters. Beginning July 6, teams can start signing free agents to contracts.

The Bulls can continue to fill roster holes via free agency. They can opt to re-sign their own free agents or make a bigger splash by signing players who finished the 2025-26 season with a different team.

Signing free agents who finished the season with other teams would be beneficial for the rebuild. It would continue to signify a fresh start with their younger core.

The Bulls have already established great momentum with their additions thus far, and will hopefully keep the momentum rolling in free agency.

Once the season starts, the Bulls will get their first opportunities to showcase that the roster they put together in the offseason is on a good trajectory.
