Trading up to the No. 3 pick would be an absolute dream for the Chicago Bulls, and it seems like more people are beginning to talk about the possibility. Grant Hughes of Bleacher Report recently wrote a mock trade that would bring Ja Morant and the No. 3 pick to Chicago.

In exchange, the Bulls would ship out pick No. 4, Rob Dillingham, Jalen Smith, and Patrick Williams to the Memphis Grizzlies. This would most likely result in the Bulls being able to select Cameron Boozer with the third pick, cementing him as the face of their franchise and their most important building block moving forward.

Caleb Wilson is great, but Boozer would be just a slight step up.

Bulls' potential trade up for No. 3 pick is being talked about by the media

Boozer is projected to be a clear-cut top-three pick in this year’s draft by most outlets. He just wrapped up one of the best freshman collegiate seasons of all-time and is now set to join the NBA.

His blend of scoring, playmaking, and defensive versatility makes him one of the most intriguing prospects in recent memory, and he could fall to the Bulls at three if they made a trade like this one.

I proposed a trade similar to this not too long ago, and now, it seems as though other outlets are thinking of similar ideas. That doesn’t necessarily mean it has any real traction, but it means more people are talking about it.

And in that regard, perhaps the idea is becoming more real. Because the more people who talk about it, the more likely it is to land in the minds of those who are actually in charge.

Morant is on a pretty rough contract right now. It would be up to the Bulls to revive his value. But since they aren’t going to compete for a title next year anyway, why not take the risk?

Plus, in the trade idea that Hughes proposed, the Bulls would also get to get off Williams’ money. All the while, they would move up one spot in the draft and likely have the chance to pick Boozer.

And if Boozer isn’t available at three, that means at least one of AJ Dybantsa or Darryn Peterson would be, and landing either of those two guys would be a dream for Chicago, too.

The point is, trading up to the third pick would be great for the Bulls, and getting Morant back in the deal wouldn’t be too bad, either.
