Remaining PF’s for the Chicago Bulls to sign: Paul Millsap

It’s hard to know how long it will be before some team will pick up the unrestricted free agent and 36-year-old veteran power forward Paul Millsap. As maybe the best and most proven option remaining all free agents at this point of the offseason, it’s hard to believe that Millsap is even available at this point anyways.

You can hear some Bulls fans by now hoping that the Bulls can fill this looming need at the four with someone like Millsap. It would make a lot of sense for all parties involved. The Bulls would give Donovan more depth and resources to succeed in the rotation next season. Any players that were added this summer that could be poor scheme fits next season could be helped out with the addition of Millsap too.

At 36 years of age, Millsap is a four-time All-Star that spent a good portion of his career with the Denver Nuggets and Atlanta Hwks. And the asking price to sign him shouldn’t be all that bad. His last contract barely paid him an average annual value in the eight figures. Getting an annual salary for him in the seven figures on his next contract is very realistic.

The prospects don’t look great by now for Millsap, and landing with a team that has a clear role set for him right away like the Bulls is a great fit. The Bulls are also in a position to get back into postseason contention, especially if Millsap is able to solidify the bench.

Moreover, imagine the strength that the Bulls could have with a second unit featuring the likes of guards Coby White and Alex Caruso, Troy Brown Jr. on the wing, Millsap at the four, and potentially either Marko Simonovic or Tony Bradley at the five.
