Remaining PF’s for the Chicago Bulls to sign: Patrick Patterson
Another remaining power forward that is still available in the unrestricted free agent market at the moment is the former Los Angeles Clippers veteran Patrick Patterson. A well-traveled veteran big man that spent at least two seasons each with five different teams, Patterson brings a lot of proven experience to the table for the Bulls.
Patterson was very serviceable since about the mid-2010s in various reserve roles with the likes of the Oklahoma City Thunder, Toronto Raptors, and Clippers. As recent as last season, Patterson was a good example of being one of the more effective value options among power forwards that could consistently fill reserve roles in this spot in the rotation.
Last season with the Clippers, Patterson averaged around five points per game, two rebounds, one assist, 0.5 steals, and 0.5 blocks. And he shot around 44 percent from the field, 36 percent from beyond the arc, and 77 percent from the free-throw line. Those are very respectable numbers, especially for a 32-year-old power forward that barely played more than 15 minutes per game.
It would not be a huge deal for Donovan and the Bulls to give Patterson a role where he played 15-20 minutes per night off the bench. He could valiantly fill that role for the Bulls, at a fraction of the cost of what Markkanen would be re-signed for out of restricted free agency. Patterson could be a good secondary option for the Bulls to fill this need at the four if Millsap doesn’t work out.
