Chicago Bulls: 3 point guards worth trading up for in the draft
Point guards worth trading up for in the draft for the Chicago Bulls: Jalen Suggs
One of the most highly coveted point guards in this entire draft class is the star former Gonzaga Bulldogs freshman Jalen Suggs. This former elite five-star recruit and 6-foot-4 and 205-pound West St. Paul, MN, native is likely to be one of the first three or five players taken in the 2021 draft. There’s no doubt it would cost the Bulls a lot to get Suggs.
Moving up to snag Suggs would likely be a best case scenario for Karnisovas and the Bulls if the former Gonzaga star slipped out of the top five. That would present a valuable enough opportunity for the Bulls to get a point guard of the future without having to give up too much. Granted, if there’s an opportunity to get into the top five in this draft without giving up that usual level of price tag, that could be an option too.
Suggs would give the Bulls a truly dynamic two-way point guard that would immediately boost their perimeter defending ability and give the offense a true primary ball handler. Star shooting guard Zach LaVine would benefit from the addition of Suggs on both ends of the floor. And if the outside shooting ability of Suggs improved too, there would be a lot more space to work with for star center Nikola Vucevic.
The Bulls need a lot of what Suggs brings to the table. He or the former Oklahoma State Cowboys superstar freshman point guard Cade Cunningham would give the Bulls exactly what they need to take this starting unit to the next level. But the Bulls missed out on the easy chance to get one of these two when they missed out on the top-four in the draft lottery.
