Chicago Bulls: Florida wing Scottie Lewis to work out for team this week
What looks to be the third or fourth player workout for the Chicago Bulls just after the week of the 2021 NBA Draft Combine is set to arrive in the middle of this current week. Former Florida Gators elite five-star recruit and talented sophomore wing Scottie Lewis is reportedly set to hold a workout with the Bulls organization in the middle of this week, per the Twitter timeline of Adam Zagoria.
This should come at a similar time for the Bulls as the draft workout with the former Texas Longhorns standout senior center Jericho Sims in the middle of this week. The duo of Sims and Lewis working out for the Bulls is a good sign of where the front office and/or scouting department are starting to build out their big board for the 2021 NBA Draft.
Lewis has also reportedly met with a good number of other teams since combine week in Chicago. Those other teams he met with at the combine included the Washington Wizards, Miami Heat, Milwaukee Bucks, Minnesota Timberwolves, Denver Nuggets, and Charlotte Hornets.
Scottie Lewis joining Chicago Bulls for a mid-week workout
Lewis definitely had his ups and downs during his college career with the Gators. But he would be joining a former Florida head coach in the Bulls’ Billy Donovan if he gets drafted by Chicago next month.
The former SEC All-Freshman Team selection stands at 6-foot-5 and 190 pounds. He has a solid 6-foot-10 wingspan and is now 21 years of age. He will be 21 when the upcoming NBA season starts too.
The numbers for Lewis actually regressed between his freshman and sophomore seasons in Gainesville. Last season, he averaged 7.9 points per game, 3.1 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.6 steals, and 1.0 blocks. And he shot 44.5 percent from the field, 31.8 percent from beyond the arc, and 67.3 percent from the free-throw line.
Known as a very good on-ball perimeter and/or wing defender and a very explosive athlete, the floor should be pretty high for Lewis at the next level. His ceiling and consistency are what will be called into question when he makes the NBA jump.
The night of the 2021 NBA Draft is set to take place on July 29. The Bulls hold the 38th overall pick in the second round of the draft since they missed out on the top four of the lottery last week.
