Chicago Bulls biggest questions heading into the offseason: Who fits best alongside the two All-Stars?

Rumors have long existed of the Chicago Bulls interest in Lonzo Ball. It makes sense as he would fit very well alongside the all-star due of LaVine and Vucevic. He would eat up a huge portion of their spending money, though.

That is why the team must weigh his, or any other high-price free agents, impact on the team against a number of other routes they can take to surround their all-stars with more talent.

Point guard is obviously a huge need, but is Lonzo the right one? Will that leave too little money to address the team’s other major areas of need like defense and frontcourt depth?

Spending big on one player will pigeonhole the front office and make them need to hit on multiple signings after the big contract. One could easily argue the best move for the Bulls would be finding value contracts and spreading out the money they have available.

While the need at point guard is big, so is the need at power forward and a number of other positions. The forward spot is especially interesting, as the Bulls need to find the perfect fit next to Vooch in the frontcourt.

Despite being an all-star center, Vooch leaves a lot to be desired on the defensive end. His ideal partner in the frontcourt is a versatile defender that stretches the floor and can protect the rim well. Not exactly easy to find.

That’s just one example of something the Bulls need to consider in terms of where their money should be spent. Another would be the contracts of Thad Young and Sato, discussed earlier.

The front office must decide if they are the right fits next to their two key players or if they should be flipped for pieces that better fit the roster. The 2021 NBA offseason brings the Bulls a number of questions, and it is only a matter of time before we start learning answers to these questions.
