Sharpshooter free agents for the Chicago Bulls to pursue: Quinn Cook

There aren’t many other names more surprising that are still available on the free agent market at this point of the regular season than the former Los Angeles Lakers and Cavs 6-foot-1 and 180 pound sharpshooting guard Quinn Cook. Just ahead of when the buyout window closed this season, the Cavaliers decided not to sign down Cook for the rest of the season.

Although Cook did play well enough last month for the Cavs to pull off a not-so-common move and extend the 10-day contract of Cook. Maybe signing Cook to a 10-day contract is something that the Bulls could consider at this point of the season. It wouldn’t be the worst move for a team that is struggling to get consistent solid looks from downtown.

The shooting percentages and counting stats of Cook really didn’t slip up at all in the last two seasons. In 23 games played between his time with the Lakers and Cavs this season, Cook averaged 17.4 points per 36 minutes, 3.9 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.2 blocks. And he shot 42.6 percent from the field, a solid 42.3 percent from beyond the arc, and 87.5 percent from the free-throw line.

Cook is a two-time NBA Champion, from his time with the Lakers last season and with the Golden State Warriors back during the 2017-18 campaign. He could also be a decent long-term fit with the Bulls backcourt rotation if he wound up making a solid impact for Donovan in a hypothetical world where they hand him a contract this season.
