2019 NBA Mock Draft: Pre-Draft Lottery night mock
Heading into this off-season, the Detroit Pistons need to be brutally honest with themselves and realize they’re in NBA purgatory. Financially strapped for the next 3 years while Blake Griffin and Reggie Jackson certainly aren’t getting any younger, Detroit needs to think ahead to the future.
The Pistons should pick Sekou Doumbouya to wrap up the lottery. Much like the Bucks did with Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Pistons can allow Sekou to develop physically while still playing under the tutelage of competitive NBA players. Doumbouya is the perfect guy to help shift Detroit’s focus to the future.
Keldon Johnson unfortunately struggled in the latter half of the season, playing against tougher conference competition and in the NCAA tournament. However, Johnson also managed to put up efficient 20+ point performances against the likes of Duke, North Carolina, and Auburn.
With Aaron Gordon, Mo Bamba, Jonathan Isaac, and Markelle Fultz the building blocks of this Orlando squad, the only hole left to fill is at shooting guard. Even if he doesn’t become a superstar there’s always value in a sniper from deep that takes care of the ball. The Magic luck out here by taking the best player available that also fills a need.
