The core of the Brooklyn Nets is already set in place. Russell, Dinwiddie, Levert, Allen, and Kurucs make for a formidable bunch of building blocks. Brooklyn is done rebuilding. With their checkbooks open and on the hunt for max level free agents, the Nets won’t want to shell out first round money to a role player with a low ceiling.
Which is exactly why the Nets should draft Nassir Little. Entering the season as a consensus top five pick, Little struggled with seeing significant minutes and other various issues that hurt his draft stock. That shouldn’t scare the Nets off though, as they are the team in the best position to take a big risk. With no apparent heir to the small forward position, the Nets need to draft Little and hope his freak athleticism and defensive potential translates.
If veterans Tyreke Evans and Darren Collison depart Indiana in this summer’s free agency, the Pacers will be in dire need of revitalized guard play. Nickeil Alexander-Walker would pair perfectly next to star Victor Oladipo and frontcourt of Turner and Sabonis.
Nickeil rates out as a positive defender and passer who will do a lot to make his teammates better. His presence may also grant Oladipo the rare opportunity to catch his breath on defense, helping Indiana further establish a threatening offense.
