Since training camp and media day are on the horizon, what better time to bring back Chicago Bulls Blurbs: a gathering of the best Bulls pieces across the web from the week that was.

It’s almost October, which means it’s time to get excited for another season of Chicago Bulls basketball.

Well, depending on who you discuss your Chicago sports with on a daily basis.

After an eventful summer that saw the Bulls trade away Jimmy Butler to the Minnesota Timberwolves and an old-but-new era of Bulls form in Minneapolis, the Bulls have kick-started a rebuilding phase to begin this season.

And, with the current front office in place, there’s no telling how long this newest rebuild in Bulls franchise history will last. It could be two years. It could be four years. It could be 10 years. Who really knows with this front office.

More from Bulls News

So of course, they go out and make another move people question thoroughly this past week. On Tuesday, former Bulls coach Doug Collins — one of the likely 14 numbers in the contacts list of Gar Forman and John Paxson — was hired on as a senior advisor of basketball operations.

Collins isn’t the worst hire the Bulls could’ve made. He’s a respected basketball mind that has expressed his displeasure with analytics … wait, what? Same ol’ Bulls, right? Hiring a familiar face that’s virtually going to do nothing for the franchise sounds about like the Bulls.

But, don’t let me tell you about it. Let others around the Bulls digital community discuss matters with you in a brand-new edition of Chicago Bulls Blurbs.

Hiring Doug Collins is the same old garbage from the Bulls – (@SBN_Ricky)

SB Nation‘s Ricky O’Donnell is one of my personal favorites to read when he writes about the Bulls. Why? Because he holds absolutely nothing back in laying into where the franchise is and going at the current juncture. He unloaded the clip on the Bulls after the hiring of Collins this week and it was fantastic. The title should’ve told you that much.

Hey Bulls, it’s not the narrative. It’s you. – (@StephNoh)

The Athletic Chicago‘s Stephen Noh is the best Bulls mind around the world wide web these days. He may not be as pessimistic as Ricky can be virtually all of the time about the Bulls, but even Steph laid into the Bulls about their past, present and future this week and it was awesome. He made a ton of excellent points and called the Bulls out on their shenanigans.

An Open Letter to the Chicago Bulls: We’re Done – (@russbengtson)

Complex‘s Russ Bengtson has long since been a Chicago Bulls fan, but like many this summer, trading Jimmy Butler and bringing on Doug Collins was the final straw. Nothing’s ever going to change. It’s not you, Bulls. Actually, it’s always you, Bulls. Russ penned a great letter discussing why he’s handing in his Bulls fandom card this week.

How Long Will Bulls’ Honeymoon with Doug Collins Last? – (@gfclark89)

Bulls Confidential‘s Geoffrey Clark also discussed the new Doug Collins hire and asked some valid questions about the relationship between the front office and Collins. Because we all know Paxson has had such good relationships with other good Bulls personnel in the past … cough, cough, Vinny Del Negro.

Is Doug Collins a good fit with Bulls? – (@btoporek)

FanRag NBA contributor Bryan Toporek asked a simple, but valid question: is Doug Collins a good fit with the Bulls? Yeah, we know about Collins being a former head coach of the Bulls and that his son Chris coaches at nearby Northwestern. But, after the way that Collins’ tenure ended with the Philadelphia 76ers and his quotes about not having fun coaching younger players and not diving into analytics, it’s a legitimate question to ask. Collins and the Bulls may be saying that he’s not doing much, but can we really believe that?
