Point Guard Grades

Hard to say that anything changes when it clearly doesn’t. The same culprits over and over. It gets a little rough having to describe this situation the same way over and over. Alas, let’s get it.

Michael Carter-Williams – Grade: D

He averaged a steal and block per game. That’s important because he really offers no upside on the offensive end of the floor. It’s all about the defensive upside. He played just under 17 minutes per game over this stretch and shot a woeful 37 percent from the field.

Rajon Rondo – Grade: C

How to best demonstrate who Rondo is at this point in his career is to remember his performance on Sunday afternoon against the Bucks. Turnovers, traveling, the most awful defense, no shooting in the first half – this is Rondo. Third quarter, Rajon turns it all the way up, scores in double digits, gets back to knocking down 3s, which is a thing since he returned to the lineup on March 8, and he gets the assists. Heck, he even played some defense. He’s very inconsistent and I’d have to say that approximately 75 percent of his problems are mental.

Isaiah Canaan – Grade: W

Does this dude still play for the Bulls? Asking for a friend. For those of you who did well in school, a ‘W’ is for when you withdraw from a class. Generally, you only do this if you’re taking a major L in the course and don’t want to have an ‘F’ on your permanent transcripts. Not that I’ve ever had that situation happen to me. Nope, never.

Cameron Payne – Grade: F

I wish this dude didn’t still play for the Bulls. Send him to Windy City and leave him there. If their season is over, sending him to open gym at the University of Chicago. If he can’t get in there, send him the YMCA.
