The Chicago Bulls begin their 2026-27 regular season schedule on Oct. 21.
While there will be plenty to watch throughout the season, there are two Bulls guards fans should monitor: Dailyn Swain and Jaylin Sellers.
Bulls fans should monitor Dailyn Swain
Although Swain struggled in summer league, he remains an intriguing young player on this roster. The Bulls drafted him with the 15th overall pick, showing they believe in him.
Coming off his summer league performance, Swain finds himself in a great position. The starting lineup will very likely be Josh Giddey, Norman Powell, Matas Buzelis, Caleb Wilson and Nic Claxton.
Swain is in a situation where he has the opportunity to develop in a reserve role. This can allow him to grow his game to become a starter. Maybe if the Bulls or Powell decide it's time for him to move on, Swain takes that starting spot.
Swain's role at the start of the season will be interesting to see, along with his production. It will be worth monitoring whether that role grows and whether his production does as well.
He can even start the season playing nothing like how he did in summer league. He has had plenty of time this offseason to grow his game, and there is also training camp.
Fans should keep an eye on Jaylin Sellers
Sellers had a great 2025-26 collegiate season at Providence. He showed upside as a scorer off the dribble and a 3-point shooter.
Sellers, who is on a two-way contract, will be a player to monitor, as he is a talented offensive player. However, the question is a matter of how big a role he gets in Chicago.
With his offensive ability, he could be a good role player for the Bulls, but he needs minutes in games to do so.
He could start off receiving a good number of minutes in games, or he may start the season limited in his on-court opportunities. That can change as the season progresses.
During his on-court opportunities, it will be worthwhile to see how much he can score off the dribble and knock down catch -and-shoot 3-pointers for the Bulls. Being able to do both would be big for Chicago.
Both Sellers and Swain are rookies with talent and upside to grow even further. Their rookie seasons in Chicago will be ones to watch.
