Zach Edey could be Nikola Vucevic’s replacement

The Bulls have a Nikola Vucevic problem.

He wasn’t good for them last season, but he’s still too productive to just give away, and not many teams will be lined up to take on the $41 million he has left on his deal.

The Bulls may be stuck with him, but with only two years remaining on that contract, it’s not too early to start thinking about the future.

With Andre Drummond likely leaving in free agency, the Bulls will need depth at center whether they keep Vucevic or trade him, so Edey could immediately slot into a backup role where he splits minutes with Vucevic or compete with him for the starting job.

The Bulls would have two centers with different skill sets and could look to address other needs in trades and free agency.

But is the promise of depth enough to draft Edey with the 11th pick? He does also fill multiple needs for the Bulls and could help them in several areas.
