The Chicago Bulls are in a very interesting position heading into the 2026 NBA Draft. They should be targeting talent, regardless of position, no matter where they’re picking in the draft. North Carolina’s Caleb Wilson seems like the obvious pick at No. 4, but at No. 15, anything could happen. In Kevin O’Connor of Yahoo Sports’ eyes, Nate Ament could even fall to them.
In that case – the scenario in which the Bulls manage to draft both Wilson and Ament – they could create one of the most unique lineups in the NBA. Chicago could roll out Josh Giddey, Matas Buzelis, Ament, Wilson, and whatever center they add this summer.
It would be an absolutely monstrous starting five.
Nate Ament could help Bulls form mega-lineup
Obviously, that lineup would be pretty funky. The Bulls wouldn’t have a traditional shooting guard, and the three-point shooting would be questionable at best.
However, a starting five like that would be one of the most intriguing in the NBA because of its size and versatility. And outside of Giddey, the defense could be pretty fun to watch, too.
Ament’s place in the lineup would be very intriguing. At one point, he was one of the top recruits in the country, though he has fallen down some boards after one season at Tennessee.
He dealt with some late-season injury issues (ankle) that affected his play in March, but throughout the regular season, he was a versatile scorer with a ton of size.
In his freshman campaign, Ament appeared in 35 games (35 starts, 29.7 minutes per contest). He averaged 16.7 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.0 steals while shooting 39.9% from the floor and 33.3% from deep range on 3.9 three-point attempts per contest.
His efficiency issues were part of the reasons he may end up falling in the draft. He has all the natural scoring talent a team would want, but the efficiency just wasn’t there at Tennessee (clearly).
However, from the Bulls’ perspective, taking a swing on a guy with as much potential as Ament could make some sense. He has all the tools to be a versatile, two-way threat at the NBA level.
If his shot comes around and Wilson manages to shoot the ball well at the NBA level, then the aforementioned mega-lineup could actually be viable for the Bulls at times.
It’s just a matter of whether or not Ament falls to them at pick No. 15.
