Meleek Thomas headlines group of guards still available for Bulls in Round 2

Chicago went big in Round 1. A guard should come next, and Thomas tops the list of best available.

The Chicago Bulls filled two gaps in Round 1 of the 2026 NBA Draft, selecting forward Caleb Wilson with the No. 4 pick and wing Dailyn Swain at No. 15. Now, they have a chance to add a high-level guard.

Wilson and Swain are part of a revamped front court being built in real time by Bulls executive VP of basketball operations, Bryson Graham. The group also includes Nic Claxton and Matas Buzelis.

That means it's time to go after a guard, and several are still on the board for Chicago heading into Round 2.

After falling out of the first round, Thomas could become the steal of the draft. He's an elite perimeter shot maker who averaged 15.6 points last year at Arkansas while draining 41.6 percent of his 4.3 3-point attempts per game.

He shot 48.7 percent from deep in SEC play, which was more than five percentage points higher than teammate Darius Acuff Jr., who went seventh overall to the Sacramento Kings.

The Bulls have the eighth pick in Round 2, which likely means they'd have to trade up to land Thomas. But he's not the only guard still on the board.

Isaiah Evans, Duke

Isaiah Evans could be slotted into the wing category, but given his slight 180-pound frame on a 6-foot-6 stringbean body, two-guard is a much more appropriate position.

Evans is a pure shooter and floor spacer. He can knock down threes off the catch or on the move at a high volume.

Ryan Conwell, Louisville

Ryan Conwell is a solid, experienced guard with good size (6-foot-4, 215 pounds) and a scorer who can do a little bit of everything well. He's a threat as a shooter, can take defenders off the bounce, use his strength to finish and is a willing defender and rebounder.

What he's missing is a knack for playmaking, but his skill set would still blend in well in Chicago.

Richie Saunders, BYU

If Graham is in the mood to add a pure shooter, Richie Saunders is the one.

Saunders has solid size at 6-foot-5 and 200 pounds and spent his college career letting it fly. He shot 38.7 percent from deep for his career.

Saunders is 25 years old and coming off an ACL tear, which limits his upside. Still, he has a role waiting for him in the NBA as a 3-point marksman.
