Jaylin Sellers could be the ideal bench battery the Bulls need on their roster

The draft scouting report on the Chicago Bulls' two-way contract guard Jaylin Sellers doesn’t undersell the basketball value he contributes when he takes the floor.  

Sellers is a scorer, and despite sub-optimal Bulls summer league shooting accuracy from the field (39.3%) and from the three-point line (23.7%), he averaged 15.6 points per game in his five Bulls summer league games and, most importantly, demonstrated the ability to carry a high-volume three-point shot shooting profile, averaging 7.6 three-point attempts per game for his entire Bulls summer league run.

The Bulls need to find shooting on their roster by any means necessary, and Sellers' shooting may prove to be an important source of bench energy if he survives Bulls training camp and wins his two-way roster spot for the entire 2026-27 NBA season.

Sellers might be more than just a shooter

What popped from the screen when watching Sellers' summer league minutes is how powerful he looks when he gets a straight-line drive to the basket.

The next level of evaluation for Sellers’ driving ability should be whether his finishing at the rim can persist through the contact of rotational-quality NBA defenders. 

If he can, Sellers has the potential to be not just a volume scorer but a dynamic volume scorer who can create points from the three-point line, at the rim, and at the free-throw line, given his caliber of explosive drives to the basket.

Defense is usually not the most scouted attribute of summer league games. However, it is hard to disregard the defensive effort that Sellers delivered in his summer league minutes.

Sellers looks like a reliable point-of-attack defender who has the length and active hands to keep the ball in front of him or create deflections that create fast breaks. 

Perhaps one of the most underappreciated aspects of basketball defense is communication, and Sellers left a great final impression, displaying his high-volume vocals on and off the court.

Jaylin Sellers has quickly built an intriguing name for himself among Bulls fans.  Sellers understands the DNA of Chicago basketball in his hustle, in his relentless defense, and in his ability to constantly attack the rim.  

Player development has become a cornerstone cultural theme for Bulls lead front office executive Bryson Graham, and it appears that Jaylin Sellers will be one of the early litmus tests for how effective a player development program Graham and his head coach, Tiago Splitter, can implement within the Bulls organization.
