Entering the home stretch of the 2026 NBA offseason, on Friday, the Chicago Bulls officially announced their training camp roster for the 2026-27 NBA season. Joel Lorenzi of The Athletic also shared the official Bulls public relations press release announcing their training camp roster.

There are obvious reasons for Bulls fans to be excited about this roster: Caleb Wilson and Matas Buzelis’ developmental journey throughout camp and into the 2026-27 regular season. Norman Powell, please let those shots fly.
Curious optimism should be a part of the collective Bulls fan consciousness going into the start of the 2026-27 training camp. How will Josh Giddey fit, presumably, with a largely new starting lineup (sans Buzelis)? Is Nic Claxton a fully healed NBA center for the 2026-27 season?
And then there are the enigmas littered throughout the Bulls' training camp roster. From the previous front office regime, there are Noa Essengue, Rob Dillingham, and Leonard Miller. Where do these players fit in Tiago Splitter’s depth chart?
From the current regime, will Bryson Graham’s other first-round rookie selection, Dailyn Swain, be able to prove that his rough outing in his Las Vegas Summer League games was simply a fluke? If not, he’s got problems. There are a few more questions that Bulls fans should be exploring throughout Bulls training camp.
Can Matas Buzelis back up his offseason rhetoric?
Buzelis made waves with his appearance on the Cousins with Vince Carter & Tracy McGrady podcast. Matas’ affinity for midrange jumpshots grabbed the spotlight, but he also mentioned that he added 12 pounds through an offseason regimen that included hiring a chef.
Worth noting, Buzelis’ listed weight in the 2025 Bulls training camp press release was 196 pounds, as CHGO’s Will Gottlieb reported. The 2026 Bulls edition of their training camp press release also lists Buzelis’ weight at 196 pounds.
It begs the question: what is Buzelis’ actual weight? Second question worth asking as well: are Matas’ words ready to line up with his actions on the court? Bulls fans are being promised a stronger, 12-pound heavier wing who’s ready to hit midrange shots. That all sounds fantastic, and now Buzelis has to actually deliver on these declarations.
Are there any camp contract diamonds in the rough?
The Bulls invited five players to their 2026-27 training camp on camp contracts: Brandon Boston Jr., Peter Suder, Drew Peterson, Orlando Robinson, and Marquel Sutton.
Boston Jr. is a wing that Graham should be familiar with, as Boston Jr. logged 42 games with the New Orleans Pelicans during the 2024-25 NBA season, Graham’s last season in the Pelicans front office.
Originally drafted by the Los Angeles Clippers, 51st overall in the 2021 NBA Draft, Boston Jr. is on the fringes of his NBA career as he didn’t make an NBA roster for the 2025-26 NBA season.
Maybe Peter Suder already has pole position in carving out a future for himself in the Bulls organization. Drew Peterson has appeared in a grand total of 34 NBA regular-season games across three NBA seasons, so don’t hold your breath for his NBA breakout. Not sure anything in Orlando Robinson’s 115 NBA regular-season games suggests he’ll survive his camp contract.
Marquel Sutton, on the other hand, has the possibility of being a Bulls training camp wildcard. Sutton is an undrafted rookie who played four seasons of NCAA men’s basketball, with his first three seasons played for the Omaha Mavericks and his final senior season for the LSU Tigers.
Sutton is a non-shooter from three-point range (NCAA career 28.9% three-point percentage), yet he displayed an effective free-throw game, averaging an NCAA career 4.1 free-throw attempts per game while shooting a career 72.1% from the free-throw line.
