Preseason is approaching for Caleb Wilson. Then, the regular season will be here.
Both will be big tests for the rookie.
Here are three things fans should keep an eye on during preseason and the start of the regular season with Wilson.
Wilson's shot attempts to begin the NBA season
How aggressive will Wilson be right away? Where will his bread and butter be on offense?
Fans will start to learn this through preseason and regular season action.
Wilson seems like he can be a focal point of the offense, so it will be interesting to see how many looks he will typically get in games. The offense could be more reliant on Wilson, especially later in the season. It could also be more of a split between Wilson, Matas Buzelis and potentially Norman Powell.
The rookie should be confident and aggressive early on, which his shot attempts should reflect.
It will also be an opportunity to see if his offense thrives in one area or if he finds success in the paint, midrange and beyond the arc.
Wilson's 3-point shooting early
Wilson thrived from beyond the arc in summer league. In his first summer league game, Wilson knocked down 7-of-11 attempts from deep. In total, he shot 41.9% from deep.
Fans should monitor whether he keeps this momentum going in preseason and the regular season. If he does, it will benefit the rookie. It will help spread the floor for him and make his game more dynamic. If the defender plays up on him, he should be able to drive past them to the paint or midrange.
It will also be interesting to see if this is a shot he prioritizes the most, or if he will rely more on midrange or paint looks. It could even be a mix of all three.
How Wilson looks with his fellow teammates
It will be fun to see how Wilson and Buzelis play together. It would be great for Chicago if they feed each other the ball and play off each other.
This duo will make rotations easier for Chicago as well. When they take Buzelis out, they can leave Wilson in. When they take Wilson out, they can leave Buzelis in.
The Bulls will always have elite talent at the forward position on the floor with this rotation.
Wilson's dynamic with Josh Giddey will also be fun to watch. Wilson will be a great option for Giddey on offense. Fans could see some electrifying plays.
Wilson and the Bulls can bring hope back to Chicago this year, making him a player to watch this season, whether someone is a Bulls fan or not.
