The Chicago Bulls need to keep a close eye on the Jaylen Brown trade situation because it could be their perfect chance to get involved. Chicago should jump into a Brown deal as a third team, sending Josh Giddey out and trying to get other young assets back in return. It could be a perfect chance for them to improve their future.
As things stand, the Celtics are likely looking to trade Brown. They may want to move on from the superstar, and though the Bulls shouldn’t want to add Brown himself, they should inch themselves into a trade. A third team could want to take on Giddey as compensation in a potential trade.
The question is, which team could the Bulls send Giddey to?
Bulls should get into Jaylen Brown trade saga with Josh Giddey
Giddey is a quality player. He can run an offense with the best of them. But in today’s NBA, he may not be the type of player a team should want as one of their best players.
As a passer and driver, Giddey is elite. If a team had the right pieces in place, he could be the offensive organizer needed to bring that team to the next level. Or a solid backup.
Take a look at the Sacramento Kings. Ironically, they have reportedly been looking for a point guard, despite trading both De’Aaron Fox and Tyrese Haliburton over the past few years.
Perhaps they could be interested in landing Giddey in a multi-team deal. Kings get Giddey. Brown goes to another team. Bulls get assets from a bunch of different places.
Or what about the Portland Trail Blazers? They are in on the Brown sweepstakes. Would they want to add another ball-handler to play behind Damian Lillard?
Would the Celtics be interested in taking Giddey in a deal, providing them with some additional playmaking (depending on what else they get back in a Brown trade)?
There are plenty of intriguing pathways for the Bulls to consider. Even if Giddey isn’t involved, getting in on the trade action would be a good way for them to add more assets to their war chest.
But throwing Giddey into the deal could be a good sweetener. Perhaps the Bulls’ way of financially helping a three-team deal could also include throwing him into it.
The point is, as the Bulls scour the trade market for ways to shake up their roster this summer, getting involved in the Brown sweepstakes – and perhaps including Giddey – could be an interesting idea.
