Chicago Bulls guard Mac McClung will play in the NBA Rising Stars Challenge at this year's All-Star Weekend.

The Bulls signed McClung to a two-way contract on Feb. 5 as part of a flurry of trade deadline moves. The deal naturally flew under the radar, given Chicago's shocking amount of activity before 2 p.m. CT.

McClung is a three-time Slam Dunk Contest champion and won the G League MVP Award in 2023-24. He'll be a fill-in for San Antonio Spurs guard David Jones Garcia on Team Austin, who will miss the game with an ankle injury, per NBA Communications.

Despite limited NBA experience, the 27-year-old earned his opportunity to compete for a long-term roster spot in the Windy City and, apparently, a chance to impress the league on Feb. 13.

Newly acquired guard will represent Bulls at All-Star Weekend 2026

McClung hasn't yet found any real NBA success, but that hasn't stopped him from becoming a mainstay of All-Star festivities. He won the 2023, 2024 and 2025 Slam Dunk Contests and is one of only two players in league history to win the competition three times, the other being Nate Robinson.

He won the 2023-24 G League MVP after averaging 25.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and 6.6 assists while shooting 50.9 percent from the field and 39.6 percent from 3-point range.

Chicago added McClung to the Windy City Bulls roster this offseason, and the G League veteran has produced at an MVP level again. In 24 games, all starts, the 6-foot-2 scorer averaged 25.4 points, 3.0 rebounds, 7.2 assists and 1.3 steals while shooting 51.7 percent from the floor and 34.8 percent from three.

McClung led the G League in scoring during the regular season, putting up 27.5 points per game to go along with 7.6 assists and 1.4 steals while shooting 51.8 percent from the field. He averaged 31.0 points and 3.0 threes across five playoff contests.

This isn't the first time the Bulls organization has had dealings with the former Georgetown and Texas Tech star. McClung played one game for the team in 2021-22 and went 1-for-1 from the field, scoring two points.

In his lone appearance for Chicago this season, McClung scored four points, grabbed one rebound and dished out one assist in 13 minutes in a 123-107 loss to the Toronto Raptors on Feb. 5.

McClung was inactive on Feb. 7 once freshly acquired guards Anfernee Simons, Jaden Ivey, Collin Sexton and Rob Dillingham were all available. He fills the Bulls' third two-way spot alongside Lachlan Olbrich and Yuki Kawamura.
