Predicting Bulls’ next free agent signing after Tristan Thompson
Predicting next buyout addition for Chicago Bulls after Tristan Thompson: Goran Dragic
Adding help for the backcourt/wing rotation is going to be much more likely at this point for the Bulls than getting another traditional big man such as Eubanks or the former Boston Celtics scoring center Enes Freedom.
One name that Bulls fans should be watching as the All-Star Break approaches is the former Raptors and Miami Heat veteran point guard Goran Dragic. The one-time All-Star selection and 2013-14 Most Improved Player would certainly bring a plethora of valuable experience to the table for the Bulls’ locker room at 35 years of age.
Dragic would also bring a very unique skill set to the Bulls’ backcourt unit that would be a good change of pace for Donovan and his staff to rely on come playoff time. While Dragic definitely wouldn’t be the starting point guard if and when Lonzo Ball is healthy, he can be a really nice change of pace for the Bulls in the second or third unit.
Moreover, the Raptors dealt Dragic to San Antonio in that deadline day deal that saw Eubanks go to Toronto. The Spurs didn’t take long to reach an agreement with Dragic after that deadline day deal went down so he could hit the free agent market. And it now looks like the Bulls are one of the more realistic suitors to land him off the buyout market.
Once again, if the Bulls were to add a buyout market target such as Dragic, it would likely come at the expense of waiving Thomas. It’s hard to find another move the Bulls would be willing to make in order to have the room for Dragic on this roster.
