Following a quiet trade deadline in Chicago, there are still some Bulls rumors circulating around the buyout market that is soon to heat up. And it looks like the Bulls are going to be much more active on the buyout market than they were at the trade deadline last week.
Granted, that won’t be hard to do considering the fact that the Bulls didn’t make any moves at the deadline on Feb. 10.
One looming buyout market target to watch for the Bulls this week is the former Toronto Raptors and Miami Heat veteran point guard Goran Dragic. This is likely to come after the San Antonio Spurs agreed to a buyout with Dragic on Feb. 15.
The report came from Shams Charania of The Athletic/Stadium on Twitter on Feb. 15 that the Spurs and Dragic reached an agreement for a buyout early this week.
Bulls rumors continue to pin Chicago to the recently bought out PG Goran Dragic
Dragic landed with the Spurs at the trade deadline after a deal that saw a few players and draft picks exchanged between San Antonio and Toronto. The intention immediately looked to be that the Spurs would buy Dragic out of the remainder of his contract. And that’s what wound up happening this week.
With the one-time All-Star and 35-year-old point guard hitting the buyout market, it looks like the Bulls are set to be a suitor. A report that was reiterated by ESPN last week indicated that the Bulls would likely be one of many suitors expected to go after Dragic if he did hit the buyout market.
It makes sense that the Bulls would consider bringing aboard an experienced guard that could add another veteran voice to the locker room and some stability to the backcourt unit down the stretch this season. Adding Dragic would likely be a low-risk move for the Bulls that could really provide a lot of value come playoff time.
Following a nice double-digit win over the San Antonio Spurs at home at the United Center on the night of Feb. 14, the Bulls are now sporting a record of 37-21. Next up for the Bulls is a meeting with the Sacramento Kings at home on Feb. 16.
