Post-deadline buyout targets that make sense for the Chicago Bulls: Goran Dragic
One of the early names to watch that hit the buyout market officially on Feb. 15 is the former Toronto Raptors and Miami Heat veteran point guard Goran Dragic. After landing with the San Antonio Spurs at the trade deadline last week, Dragic would promptly reach an agreement to be bought out and officially hit the free agent market.
The Bulls could really use some help in the backcourt unit down the stretch this season from someone like Dragic. But there will likely be no shortage of suitors that are looking into Dragic on the buyout market to see if he wants to sign with them. You shouldn’t discount what the Bulls can offer for Dragic, though, for the remainder of the season.
If he’s looking to contribute to a rising playoff contender right away, then the Bulls would certainly be a suitable landing spot for him off the buyout market.
And it already looks like the Bulls had interest and were expected to be a suitor if and when Dragic hit the buyout market. Now here we are.
Will executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas and general manager Marc Eversley make the move to sign Dragic as a veteran addition to the backcourt unit in the days and/or weeks ahead?
If the Bulls are going to sign him, the sooner likely will be the better. The Bulls are still missing the likes of point guards Alex Caruso and Lonzo Ball who are recovering from various injury issues. Getting Dragic in the mix as soon as possible would be a good move by the Bulls for the time being while they wait for Caruso and Lonzo to return.
