Guards the Chicago Bulls can target to add depth at the deadline: Josh Okogie

If the Bulls are going to go after guard depth with the sole goal in mind of just bolstering the bench to stave off some struggles during this recent wave of injuries, then none of their potential targets should cost them a lot. Finding value at the trade deadline this year shouldn’t be too difficult for the Bulls either given the plethora of players that got a chance in the NBA this season thanks to all of the entries to the league’s health and safety protocol.

There are some new players that have risen to the occasion that could be available at the trade deadline this year thanks to all of the 10-day contracts handed out of late.

And one player that could find himself on the trade block with a declining value largely thanks to the plethora of other guards/wings that could be available this year is the Minnesota Timberwolves 23-year-old shooting guard Josh Okogie.

Okogie could be a two-guard for the Bulls that serves in the role of a defensive specialist. Adding him to the rotation could also take some of the load off of TBJ down the stretch this season. Donovan and the Bulls are occasionally giving TBJ 25-30 minutes per game off the bench.

While the offensive ceiling for TBJ is higher than that of Okogie, the defensive production is much more consistent from the Timberwolves’ fourth-year shooting guard. And he would play in the role of more of a true two-guard than someone that switches between the three and the four. Okogie is actually a proven defender that can handle matchups against star guards too.

Best of all, the Bulls could likely get Okogie from the Timberwolves for not a whole lot in return.
