Guards the Chicago Bulls can target to add depth at the deadline: Cory Joseph

If the Bulls wanted to go after a veteran guard at the trade deadline next month, I would personally be a big fan of the idea of going after the 30-year-old Pistons point guard Cory Joseph. This former San Antonio Spurs and Toronto Raptors floor general could wind up being one of the most underrated veteran guards available at the deadline this season.

The Bulls could really get excellent value out of trading for Joseph to help get them through this current wave of injuries. Joseph could also be a valuable part of the second or third unit in the backcourt rotation down the stretch during the regular season and come postseason time.

Joseph is putting up some great numbers for the Pistons this season, mostly coming off the bench. He’s just a bit out of place with a struggling Pistons team that is rebuilding in the Central Division at the moment.

In less than two-dozen minutes played per game this season, Joseph is averaging around nine points per game and four assists while shooting 46 percent from the field and 44 percent from beyond the arc. He could come in and make an immediate impact for the Bulls bench as a facilitator for the second or third unit and a tremendously efficient floor spacer.

Best of all, it wouldn’t cost the Bulls much at all to get a valued and efficient veteran guard like Joseph to the Windy City by the time the trade deadline arrives next month. He’s got two years left on his current contract, which pays him around $10 million in total. The final year of his current contract is a player option.
