It’s hard to find anything bad to say about the former Illinois Fighting Illini rookie point guard Ayo Dosunmu with his play of late. He’s made a positive impact for the Chicago Bulls during a tough stretch for the team of late and looks to be a rookie to watch around the NBA down the stretch this season.
Second-year head coach Billy Donovan and the Chicago Bulls had an impressive start to this regular season slate, defying most preseason expectations to top the Eastern Conference standings at the moment. And one of the major driving factors that got the Bulls in first place in the standings in the East this season is the play of some of the younger guards in this rotation.
At least of late, Donovan and the Bulls are getting some great minutes out of the young point guard duo of Coby White and rookie sensation. Coby and Ayo helped the Bulls stave off a five-game losing streak against a surging divisional foe earlier this week when this team knocked off the Cleveland Cavaliers by a convincing double-digit margin.
The play of Dosunmu, in particular, is standing out to Bulls fans and the NBA media of late. Dosunmu went from having some quality performances, especially for a rookie second-round draft pick, earlier in the season to becoming one of the most impressive in this rookie class to start the second half of the regular season slate.

At this point of his rookie campaign, Dosunmu is looking like one of the most impressive players in this entire rookie class. He’s producing at a higher level than even most 2021 first-round draft picks in the last few weeks.
