Dud for the Chicago Bulls in pivotal win over the Cavs: Troy Brown Jr.

As soon as I started talking about the improved play of shooting guard/small forward Troy Brown Jr. coming off the bench on both ends of the floor of late, the narrative changed again. Brown was looking like he was turning a corner for the Bulls in an elevated role in the midst of the recent major wave of injuries.

Yet, Brown had a really pedestrian run in this game for the Bulls. He was one of the least efficient players coming off the bench for the Bulls on this night. In around 26 minutes on the floor in this game, Brown did register six rebounds. But that was about the lone positive for him.

Along with his six rebounds, Brown came up with six points, no assists, no steals, no blocks, and no turnovers. And he shot just 2-of-6 from the field, 1-of-4 from beyond the arc, and 1-of-2 from the free-throw line.

All in all, you would just like to see Brown have a more apparent impact on both ends of the floor when he’s getting more than two dozen minutes off the bench. He was a team-worst -6 in this game as he struggled to find traction in the minutes he did get.

Brown showed in this game that he can still be an effective rebounder. But given that he’s playing more minutes at the four this season compared to the last few years for him, that is something to be expected.
