Chicago Bulls players who were spectacular in 2021: Zach LaVine
The year 2021 was the year of Zach LaVine for the Bulls. The star shooting guard got his first career All-Star selection and should’ve been in serious consideration for All-NBA Team honors. While he didn’t come away from last season with his first career All-NBA Team selection, LaVine still had a very special 2020-21 campaign.
And all of the momentum he built up from last season spilled over into another special campaign for LaVine so far during the 2021-22 campaign. If LaVine keeps playing the way he has through the first 32 games of the regular season the rest of the way, he will definitely find himself as an All-Star for two years in a row.
Over the course of the last two seasons, LaVine has essentially consistently averaged 27 points per game, five rebounds, five assists, one steal, and one block. And he’s done all this while shooting at least 50 percent from the field and 40 percent from beyond the arc.
LaVine has continued to thrive while the Bulls continued to put an improved supporting cast around him. That may sound like an obvious thing to happen to expect LaVine to improve with a better supporting cast, but that idea didn’t line up with the reputation he was getting prior to this season.
LaVine was often seen before as a stat-sheet stuffer that couldn’t win. He’s currently riding a streak of seven seasons without making it to the postseason. And it feels like that is all about to change in 2022.
