Zach LaVine now in the league’s health and safety protocol
The one team that definitely can’t catch a break around the NBA right now is the Chicago Bulls. Second-year head coach Billy Donovan and the Bulls were already dealing with absences of more than half of the rotation essentially before two of the most recent pieces of detrimental news dropped on Dec. 12.
Two of the most recent additions to the injury report for the Bulls this weekend are star shooting guard Zach LaVine and shooting guard/small forward Troy Brown Jr. The news about LaVine entering the league’s health and safety protocols, likely due to a reported COVID-19 case, came from ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski on Twitter late in the morning of Dec. 12.
Meanwhile, the report about Brown getting placed in the league’s health and safety protocol came pretty soon after the one regarding LaVine. K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago had the report on Brown entering the league’s health and safety protocol a little bit later in the late morning of Dec. 12.
Chicago Bulls now reportedly missing Zach LaVine and Troy Brown Jr.
At least the Bulls star center (granted he is struggling right now) Nikola Vucevic was able to put a spin on it with his social media post on Dec. 12.
The Bulls were already missing key players such as star shooting guard/forward DeMar DeRozan, point guard Coby White, shooting guard/forward Javonte Green, rookie point guard Ayo Dosunmu, and forward Derrick Jones Jr. Now that the Bulls are also down Brown and LaVine, this team is in a really difficult spot.
One of the players that the Bulls even signed with the hardship exemption, small forward Stanley Johnson, was placed in the league’s health and safety protocol before really even getting to play in a game.
Donovan and the Bulls are now up to a whopping nine players in the league’s health and safety protocol with LaVine and Brown now getting quarantined. That doesn’t include any other injuries that the Bulls are facing right now.
We’ll see if the Bulls go out and try to sign anyone, or if they postpone any of the upcoming games since it feels like almost the entire team is missing at this point.
Next up for the Bulls is supposed to be a meeting with the division foe Detroit Pistons on the night of Dec. 14. We’ll see what happens with that game after the news dropped on Dec. 12 that Brown and LaVine are now in the league’s health and safety protocol.
