Chicago Bulls: Steve Kerr calls this team a ‘real contender’
One of the most decisive games of the early-season schedule for second-year head coach Billy Donovan and the Chicago Bulls is about to arrive on the night of Nov. 12. In front of what will be a national television audience on ESPN heading into the weekend, the Bulls are set to take on former Chicago sharpshooting guard Steve Kerr and the Golden State Warriors.
The respected Warriors head coach Kerr also won three NBA Championships playing alongside legendary shooting guard Michael Jordan and the Bulls with some of those great dynasty teams of the 1990s. He’s now coached up multiple Warriors title-winning teams as a bench boss since his playing days in the NBA ended.
This will be fun to see one of the first really competitive Bulls’ teams take on an also-competitive Warriors squad heading into the weekend. Matchups with these circumstances between the Bulls and a Kerr-coached Warriors team haven’t happened all that often.
Kerr also had some optimistic words for Donovan and the Bulls heading into this meeting with the Warriors at the Chase Center on Nov. 12. He mentioned that he thinks the Bulls “have turned things around this season.
More specifically, Kerr noted that he’s “happy for the Bulls” and that he will “still cheer for them all of these years later”.
Steve Kerr reportedly believes the Chicago Bulls are a “real contender”
Most importantly, Kerr talked about how he does believe the Bulls are “becoming a real contender” and how “exciting” that is.
It’s nice to hear about the recognition of the improvement that the Bulls made since last season. All of the work that executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas and general manager Marc Eversley did to build out this roster since the trade deadline last season appears to be starting to pay off in terms of success in the win column.
Following a big 117-107 win over superstar point guard Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks at home at the United Center on Nov. 10, the Bulls are sporting a record of 8-3. Meanwhile, the Warriors come into this meeting with a record of 10-1, good for best in the NBA, following their double-digit win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Nov. 10.
