Chicago Bulls players that will help this team get into the playoffs: Lonzo Ball

It was a difficult choice to figure out who could really power Donovan and the Bulls to get into the postseason next season between three players that should be in the starting five at the outset of the 2021-22 campaign. The choice boiled down to the likes of star center Nikola Vucevic, second-year forward Patrick Williams, and point guard Lonzo Ball.

But since someone has to help the Bulls with perimeter defending and by adding another outside shooter to the mix in the starting five, we go with Lonzo here.

While the stat line for Lonzo might not look as impressive as that of Vucevic by the end of this coming regular season, his importance to this team can’t be overstated. Lonzo could be the final piece to this puzzle for the Bulls’ starting unit to finally get this group over the postseason hump.

As someone who is capable of reaching the heights of an All-Defensive Team selection that also consistently shoots better than 38 percent from beyond the arc, and can effectively facilitate this offense, Lonzo is crucial to Donovan. He won’t necessarily be the primary initiator or the highest usage player in this starting unit, but Lonzo will be the glue that holds the backcourt unit together.

It seems like the perfect fit for the Bulls to have the duo of Lonzo and star shooting guard Zach LaVine in this starting backcourt. Lonzo is a true disruptor on the defensive end of the floor that can help the Bulls steal away some extra possessions. And he’s a player with elite court vision and playmaking ability on offense.
