Chicago Bulls players that would benefit from adding Paul Millsap: Nikola Vucevic

Another Bulls big man that could benefit tremendously from the addition of Millsap is the former Orlando Magic star center Nikola Vucevic. The 30-year-old two-time All-Star Vucevic was the marquee acquisition that executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas and general manager Marc Eversley got at the trade deadline back on March 25.

At the moment, it looks like the Bulls could be starting the former San Antonio Spurs star shooting guard/forward DeMar DeRozan at the four next to Vucevic. But that will do nothing to help Vucevic find more room to work down low or help him out on defense.

It’s clear that Vooch can effectively space the floor for the Bulls, but he’s not the best on the defensive end of the floor. And Vooch would have more limited space to work on the inside if he’s playing at the five next to someone that is limited on range like DeRozan.

If you place Millsap next to Vooch in significant minutes night in and night out, the Bulls would have a defensive crutch for him. And the Bulls would have a versatile fit next to Vooch that could only improve his offensive game in Millsap.

There’s a lot more that Donovan could do with Vooch on offense, and a lot less that he would have to worry about on defense, with Millsap in the mix. The same could be said if the Bulls were able to sign another proven veteran at the four like Patrick Patterson.

Either one of these two veteran free agent power forwards would be a good fit next to one of the Bulls’ star players in Vooch.
