Chicago Bulls players that would benefit from adding Paul Millsap: Marko Simonovic

One of the major plusses for the Bulls in adding someone like Millsap would be that the rookie former KK Mega Bemax big man Marko Simonovic wouldn’t have to play too many minutes at the four. As it appears now, the Bulls might have to play guys like Simonovic and Troy Brown Jr. in some minutes out of their usual positions at the four.

The Bulls don’t have a true backup to whoever will be in the starting unit at the moment at the four. That ship sailed when the Bulls shipped off Markkanen to the Cavs last week. Granted, that was a big move by all indications for the Bulls.

Moreover, Simonovic looks like a really nice fit for this rotation. He showed some real flashes in the Las Vegas NBA Summer League slate of a big man that is excellent in transition, has good court vision, can play good on-ball defense down low, and is starting to space the floor more effectively. Simonovic is a fluid big man with good hands and is developing the type of court visit for a center that could really set him apart.

But if the Bulls have to stunt the development of Simonovic by using him in more of a floor-spacing power forward role right away next season, that wouldn’t be ideal for him as a rookie. There might be no other options, though, for the Bulls at the four considering the planned backup center is the former Oklahoma City Thunder big man Tony Bradley.

There’s no much of an ability that Bradley has to space the floor at all.
