Chicago Bulls players that’re problematic scheme fits for Billy Donovan: Coby White

The lone returning Bulls player that made this list is the former North Carolina Tar Heels point guard and the 21-year-old Greensboro, NC, native Coby White. A very inconsistent role for the volume-scorer White isn’t going to help him out much heading into his third season.

Not only is White in a weird spot as a member of the former young core of the Bulls, but he also might not be ready to go at the outset of the upcoming regular season. White is now in the midst of recovering from shoulder surgery that he had earlier in the offseason.

Once White does get back for the Bulls, he will be jostling for a spot in the backcourt rotation alongside the likes of Caruso, rookie point guard Ayo Dosunmu, and maybe even second-year point guard Devon Dotson. That doesn’t even consider the possibility that the Bulls add another guard at some point in the coming weeks.

The Bulls do still have three roster spots remaining this offseason to fill, potentially via what’s left in free agency.

It really feels like only a matter of time before the Bulls let go of White. He still holds a good amount of trade value, and could contribute elsewhere. If the Bulls want to carve out a second unit spot for White, if he’s able to get back in rhythm at the outset of next season, then that could be a decent fit.

Otherwise, it does feel like the days for White are numbered, which will present a challenge for Donovan next season.
