Remaining FA targets that fit with Lonzo Ball: Lou Williams

The Bulls do already have one volume-scoring guard in the mix at this point in Coby. The former North Carolina Tar Heels point guard and seventh overall pick of the Bulls in the first round of the 2019 NBA Draft saw his role decline last season, though. Depending on what plans head coach Billy Donovan and the Bulls have for Coby moving forward, a veteran piece like point guard Lou Williams could be a nice addition.

Donovan and the Bulls did get back a veteran voice in this locker room by adding DeRozan. But they lost more than they’ve received so far this summer, with combo guard Tomas Satoransky, veteran shooting guard Garrett Temple, and veteran forward Thaddeus Young, all dealt in the sign-and-trades that landed the Bulls Lonzo and DeRozan.

What could be the final piece to the puzzle to help round out the backcourt unit could arrive at a low-cost and short-term deal with Williams. The 34-year-old 16-year veteran is still producing at a high level in sixth and seventh man type of roles at his last few stops. He contributed a lot for the Atlanta Hawks bench down the stretch last season too.

If Lou-Will could give the Bulls even 10 points per game while allowing White to be a more versatile fit as a true combo guard, then this bench could be extremely potent. Signing Lou-Will would allow Donovan and the Bulls to move White to play more of a true combo guard role, whilst letting Caruso be a more switchable defender that plays most of his minutes at the two.

And the Bulls could still have a very solid guard combo out on the floor between Lonzo and Lou-Will, even when LaVine is on the bench.
