Chicago Bulls Guard Zach LaVine set for Another Step Forward, Reason No. 1: A more defined role
Last but certainly not least, a big reason to expect yet another jump from LaVine next season is a very simple one. FOr the first time since he joined the Bulls, and really since he joined the NBA in general, LaVine can focus on specific things to help himself on the court next season.
Obviously, he could always zone in on certain areas he felt needed work. What he couldn’t do was zone in on those areas knowing how to apply it based on his team.
This one has much to do with the presence of Vooch. LaVine knows he has an elite passing big man that can make his life easier if he adds to certain areas of his arsenal. That’s a great benefit to a player looking to take a step forward that seems impossible.
It will be about the details. Being able to read the defense correctly when his big man has the ball. Not only that but being able to find the open spot so Vooch can hit him in rhythm.
In addition to Vooch, though, is the understanding he has of Billy Donovan as the team’s head coach. He has an entire season of knowledge on what the coach wants and expects from him and knows how he is going to position him on the floor.
The increased familiarity will allow LaVine to maximize the skills that Donovan is going to put him in position to showcase. By being able to focus on areas of his game he knows will benefit him, LaVine has a great chance of taking yet another step forward in what will be his eighth NBA season.
LaVine looks like the one area Bulls fans are overlooking in terms of how this team is going to improve next season. It’s only a matter of time before we realize he isn’t done growing as an NBA player.
