Former Tar Heels the Chicago Bulls could pair with Coby White: Justin Jackson
When it is mentioned that the Bulls are going to pair someone with White, it is in the sense that they could be in the same unit coming off the bench. Given that there’s a solid group of former Tar Heels hitting free agency that could be reserve players for the Bulls next season, this is an intriguing idea for the front office.
One name sticks out among wings that have become journeymen in the NBA of late that is also a former Tar Heel in the 6-foot-8 and 220-pound 26-year-old Justin Jackson. This Houston, TX, native played in at least one regular season game with four different teams since the start of the 2018-19 campaign.
Jackson would likely want to find more of a permanent home at his next landing spot. But for him to do that, he’ll have to find more consistency in his game in a reserve role.
The good news here is that the Bulls are going to, once again, have a depth void to fill on the wing. Jackson could be a good fit for the Bulls if they wanted to replace someone like second-year shooting guard/wing Adam Mokoka in one of the two-way contract slots.
The Bulls should be able to fill one of the two-way contract slots with the second-year former Kansas Jayhawks point guard Devon Dotson. Jackson could be more of a proven option to fill the other two-way contract spot than someone like Mokoka.
Jackson is a cheaper option for a rather cap-strapped team like the Bulls. That is if Karnsiovas and the Bulls still plan to go all out to find their point guard of the future this summer in someone like Lonzo Ball.
