Chicago Bulls: 4 scorching hot prospects to target at No. 38
Scorching hot draft prospects for the Chicago Bulls to target at 38: Jericho Sims
Among a loaded class of big men coming out of the Texas Longhorns basketball program in this draft year is the former senior standout center Jericho Sims. Just the insanely gifted physical tools that Sims brings to the table should make him one of the more appealing options for the Bulls to either nab at No. 38 in this draft, or sign him as an undrafted free agent if that opportunity is presented.
Granted, it wouldn’t be smart for Karnisovas and the Bulls to just wait it out and hope that they can sign Sims as an undrafted free agent if they really want him. Sims is rising up draft boards too fast following his impressive showing at the 2021 NBA Draft Combine last month.
One of the highlights of the week among prospects in this draft class was Sims hitting his head on the rim whilst trying to dunk the ball. This is the type of above-the-rim athleticism that the Bulls could bring in to their frontcourt unit by drafting Sims.
The Bulls also worked Sims out after the combine transpired a couple of weeks ago.
To a more viable extent, Sims would be more of a traditional big man, just with insane athleticism. He is a decent rim protector, is dominant on the glass, and is insanely efficient with the ball in his hands around the rim. In certain ways, he is comparable to a former Texas big man that is now with the New Orleans Pelicans that he played with on the Forty Acres in Jaxson Hayes.
Sims is likely to hit a ceiling as an early second-round pick. But if the Bulls want to add depth in the frontcourt rotation this summer, then drafting Sims could be a great way to get that done.
