Point guards worth trading up for in the draft for the Chicago Bulls: Davion Mitchell

Who I would consider being the most relevant option among point guards in this draft class that the Bulls should legitimately consider trading up for is the defending National Champion and former Baylor Bears star, Davion Mitchell. The reigning Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year and two-time All-Big 12 honoree just finished up his junior campaign in Waco.

And there was no other point guard that proved what he can do in the biggest spotlight, and at the perfect time to see his draft stock rise, then Mitchell throughout the NCAA Tournament. We all got to witness how Mitchell could shut down opposing guards on the perimeter with fierce tenacity and with extreme consistency.

We shouldn’t look past the offensive skill set of Mitchell either. He still could use some polish on that end of the floor, but Mitchell brings a good amount of versatility to the table. Mitchell was a good outside shooter at Baylor, and really became a much better distributor of the basketball last season (posting a career-best 5.5-2.4 assist-to-turnover ratio per game).

If Mitchell is available anywhere outside of the lottery in this draft, then it is at least worth consideration from Karnisovas and Eversley to move up and snag him. Mitchell is one of the more well-rounded and NBA-ready point guards in this draft class, so he could clearly make a positive impact right away for the Bulls. It’s just a matter of how much it would cost the Bulls to trade up to get him later this month.
