Point guards for the Chicago Bulls to sign before Derrick Rose: Lonzo Ball

The move for the Bulls this summer seems to be signing the New Orleans Pelicans two-way point guard Lonzo Ball. If the price isn’t driven too high for the current Pelicans 6-foot-6 and 190-pound floor general, and former Los Angeles Laker, then it is definitely worth the Bulls signing Lonzo. But there will likely be a plethora of suitors after Lonzo.

Before the Bulls would consider signing a more injury-prone veteran that could also be a polarizing addition like D-Rose, bringing Ball into the mix makes more sense. Ball still looks to have some growth in his game, and he fills so many other needs for head coach Billy Donovan. They will get a true upgrade on both ends of the floor in many ways compared to the likes of combo guard Tomas Satoransky and second-year point guard Coby White.

A lot of Bulls fans are likely starting to get tired of all of the talk about the team signing Lonzo, and just want to see something like this happen. And it’s likely not all that far away before the Bulls can get involved in the bidding war in restricted free agency to sign him.

Ball is definitely a better perimeter defender than Rose, and he’s also developing into a much better outside shooter. D-Rose is still more explosive creating off the dribble and more effective getting the rim when running a settled half-court offense. They are about equal for their career bodies of work in terms of their distributing ability, though.
