Point guards for the Chicago Bulls to sign before Derrick Rose: Reggie Jackson

One of the potential starting point guard options for the Bulls that definitely has his stock on the rise heading into the summer months is the former Boston College Eagle and Los Angeles Clippers breakthrough volume-scorer Reggie Jackson. The 20th overall pick in the first round of the 2011 NBA Draft of the Oklahoma City Thunder has turned into more of the more interesting point guards of late.

Since he left the Thunder following the 2014-15 season, Jackson has only played for the Detroit Pistons and the Clippers. He wound up spending the bulk of the years of his career thus far with the Pistons, for six seasons. And he just finished up his second full season with the Clippers, which saw him produce at the highest level in the postseason in his career to date.

That’s why the idea of signing Jackson should be able to excite Bulls fans. He’s not going to be a plus defender all that often alongside star shooting guard Zach LaVine. But Jackson will be an offensive spark plug that is a more consistent presence on offense than White. And he’s definitely a better scorer and distributor than Sato.

The difference mainly between Jackson and White would be the ability of the Clippers’ breakthrough point guard to at least not make head-scratching plays on defense all that often. Jackson could often at least be a net neutral presence on the defensive end of the floor, which wouldn’t be the worst thing.
