Former superstars the Chicago Bulls could sign: Chris Paul
When it’s all said and done for his playing days in the NBA, veteran star Phoenix Suns point guard Chris Paul will go down as one of the most effective at his position in the history of this league. For most of his career to date (especially during his days with the New Orleans Hornets, Houston Rockets, and the Clippers), CP3 managed to be one of the more underappreciated point guards in the NBA.
CP3 and the Suns are trying to push through the Clippers and the superstar duo of forwards Kawhi and Paul George to make it to the NBA Finals. But both CP3 and Kawhi missed Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals between the Suns and Clippers. We’ll see if they’re back in the mix for a pivotal Game 2 in The Valley.
However, for the Bulls to have the ability to sign a floor general like CP3 this summer, they would need to find a creative way to free up some cap space. That would definitely involve passing on re-signing impending restricted free agent power forward Lauri Markkanen and Theis. Along with that, the Bulls would probably need to trade the likes of Young and combo guard Tomas Satoransky.
The Bulls do need to find a true starting point guard of the future this offseason. And while the playing days for CP3 in the NBA are winding down at this point, he would be an immediate solve that Bulls fans would likely be very happy about.
It would take the 11-time All-Star selection Paul to opt-out of the final year of his contract (worth a salary of nearly $45 million) to make that a possibility this summer.
