All the Chicago Bulls can do is assume they will not be picking in the top four of this year’s NBA Draft. I say that because they have a complicated and important offseason ahead and they no longer have any control in getting their own pick.

If it lands in the top four when the NBA Lottery takes place the Bulls will obviously be ecstatic. If it lands anywhere outside those top four picks, the Bulls first 2021 draft selection they currently own is the 38th overall pick.
Quite the gap in picks. Not getting that top four selection means nothing in terms of an excuse for the franchise, either. This is why their drawn-out plan should assume they won’t have this desirable asset. That way they are starting from day one with a plan that gets them to the level they need to be at next year.
Anything extra like a top-four pick should just push them that much closer to being the team they need to be. All options would then be on the board.
That would involve exploring trade options and evaluating the top prospects in the 2021 NBA Draft. Like every front office at this point, they have already done a lot of the work that takes place throughout the year. The top prospects are not guys the front office is unfamiliar with.
It’s important to make it clear that no one should be expecting the pick to remain with the Bulls. Is it possible? Yes. That is why I have the ultra-short, four-prospect big board just in case the Bulls get lucky on lottery night.
