Chicago Bulls biggest threats to sign Daniel Theis: Dallas Mavericks

The Mavericks are another team that will be targeting elite talent above all else. The difference between them and the Knicks, though, is they already have a legitimate superstar on their team.

Obviously, that would be Luka Doncic. Kristaps Porzingis is next to him in what is among the most talented duos in the league. Porzingis may not be the player many once thought he could become but he is still a great basketball player and has tremendous room for growth.

That’s why the Mavericks could pivot from a star player to multiple perfectly fitting role pieces next to their offensively gifted one-two punch. Theis could be one of those perfect fits as a role player that contributes more to the sum of the team than to the box score.

Pairing him up with Porzingis in the frontcourt would offer all sorts of looks to have Luka attack defenses from. Both can finish and space the floor, which is exactly what the Mavericks want around Doncic.

Defensively this gives the Mavericks a player that is more capable of banging down low when matchups require. The option to put a guy like Theis on the bigger, more physical centers would go a long way in preventing those players from dominating the Mavericks.

It would also help Porzingis stay fresh over the course of the season. That alone is one of the Mavericks main focuses next year, one would imagine.

Dallas could sign Theis and still have money to make other slight improvements most likely. They are still paying Luka his rookie scale contract and that makes this offseason the perfect time to maximize their financial situation.
