Chicago Bulls threats to sign Daniel Theis: New York Knicks

The New York Knicks enter the offseason with all sorts of financial flexibility. In terms of cap space that can easily be opened up, they are far ahead of anyone else in the NBA.

That isn’t to say another team can’t or won’t unload their cap sheet to rival the Knicks, just that the Knicks don’t have to move any bad contracts or lose any great players to get financial freedom.

As always, signing a star player or trading for a star player will be their priority this offseason. They certainly have a much better pitch this year to any star players than they have in recent years.

Whether they land that big fish or not they will have significant money still available, which is why they make the list of teams that could poach Theis away from the Bulls. Not only that, they also make sense from a roster and coaching perspective.

It would make sense if Thibs valued a player of Theis’s skillset this offseason. While the Knicks have young shot blocker Mitchell Robinson already, he is still growing and has work to do. He also can’t be counted on for an entire season to play big minutes.

Theis will want a significant role with any team he signs with, and the ability he displayed to play the four in addition to the five with the Bulls means he could fit in very nicely with the Knicks frontcourt. Robinson, Theis and Randle would make for a fun frontcourt that can do a variety of different things on both ends of the floor.
