Players the Chicago Bulls regret trading from the past 10 years: Justin Holiday

As a more underrated wing in the Central Division at this point, the Indiana Pacers 6-foot-6 and 180-pound 32-year-old shooting guard/small forward Justin Holiday was someone that the Bulls let go for a very small return a few years back. The Bulls have actually traded Holiday twice now, once coming in 2016 and then in 2019.

The Bulls first landed Holiday as part of a three-team trade with the Atlanta Hawks and Utah Jazz. Some of the other notable names that were moved as part of that three-team trade were point guard Kirk Hinrich and combo guard Shelvin Mack.

Holiday stuck around with the Bulls in that first stint following that trade at the latter portion of the 2015-16 regular season for just four or five months roughly. In the summer of 2016, the Bulls dealt out Holiday as part of the Derrick Rose trade with the New York Knicks. But Holiday was only away from the Bulls for one year at that point before signing to return to Chicago during the 2017 offseason.

The Bulls kept Holiday around for two more years following his signing in 2017. GarPax shipped off Holiday to the Memphis Grizzlies in early 2019 in a deal that got them a second-round draft pick, MarShon Brooks (who would later be waived), and Wayne Selden.

Giving up Holiday might’ve looked like an inconsequential move at the time, but he’s played really well as a three-and-D wing for the Pacers. Not only is the type of skill set that he brings to the table valued to a large degree in the NBA today, he is also one of the most undervalued wings on the market.
