Players the Chicago Bulls regret trading from the past 10 years: Daniel Gafford

Among the players that the current Bulls front office parted ways with at the trade deadline that they might regret to some degree at this point is the former Arkansas Razorbacks big man Daniel Gafford. Karnsivoas and Eversley shipped off the second-year center Gafford to the Washington Wizards at the trade deadline back on March 25.

The Bulls let go of Gafford at the deadline along with small forward Chandler Hutchison for the return of big man Mo Wagner and shooting guard/small forward Troy Brown Jr. After that trade, the Bulls wound up flipping Wagner to the Boston Celtics along with center Luke Kornet in the deal that landed them center Daniel Theis.

Getting Theis was huge for the Bulls, and hopefully, he will wind up re-signing to stay in Chicago beyond this summer.

But it is also unfortunate that the Bulls didn’t get to see out the development of Gafford in Chicago. He was a gem find for the former front office regime of GarPax in the second round of the 2019 NBA Draft. That was a solid get for GarPax, and Gafford was really good in the nation’s capital down the stretch this season.

In 23 games played with the Wizards post-deadline, Gafford averaged roughly 10 points per game, six rebounds, one assist, one steal, and two blocks (in just 18 minutes per night). His efficiency was taken to a whole new level with the Wizards when it was already pretty good with the Bulls.
