Players the Chicago Bulls regret trading from the past 10 years: Spencer Dinwiddie*

The lone player on this list that has an asterisk next to his name is the currently injured Brooklyn Nets standout point guard and former undrafted free agent Spencer Dinwiddie. It was back in the summer of 2016 that the Bulls nabbed Dinwiddie in a trade with the Detroit Pistons. But Dinwiddie didn’t even make it through camp with the Bulls that year.

Dinwiddie is on this list since he essentially was bought out by the Bulls after he landed with the team by way of a trade with the divisional foe Pistons. He was waived by the Bulls in the fall of 2016, which is why he obviously wasn’t officially traded by the team like the rest of the players on this list.

The proper category to likely place Dinwiddie in would be players that the Bulls waived that they regret in hindsight.

Nonetheless, it is important to note Dinwiddie here in terms of the current front office learning the lessons from past mistakes of the GarPax regime. With all of the players that the Bulls moved at the deadline this year (and that they could also move this offseason), it’s very much worth noting that they have to be careful with any underrated players that fall through the cracks.

Dinwiddie wound up getting signed by the Nets ahead of the start of the 2016-17 season, and it paid near-immediate dividends for that squad. Last season, Dinwiddie had the type of production that nearly made him an All-Star selection. And the same could’ve been said for this year had he not had an unfortunate season-ending knee injury ahead of the turn of the calendar year.
