Players that Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan praised: Chris Paul

There’s a long connection dating back multiple decades between Jordan and the Phoenix Suns veteran star point guard/future Hall-of-Famer Chris Paul. One of the most recent significant connections where CP3 and MJ both had significant influence in the NBA sphere was with a meeting last year regarding what to do in the midst of the social activist efforts for racial equality. Both Jordan and CP3 were reportedly (per ESPN) looked to as guiding voices around the NBA.

At this point of his career, CP3 is one of the most hailed veteran voices in the NBA. He is trusted to head up the NBA Player’s Association and has immediately turned around the Suns and Oklahoma City Thunder in their own right over the past two seasons. That helped to shake off some of the negative image that formed around him from his days with the Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Clippers.

You don’t just get in Jordan’s good graces with this close of a connection without having a high level of respect from the Bulls’ legend. CP3 is definitely one of the best players of this generation, and it would be nice to see him get a ring before it’s all said and done. He would go down in this generation like that of Charles Barkley or Karl Malone/John Stockton if he doesn’t get one.

CP3 is a native of North Carolina, the same state that MJ grew up in. There’s the connection that these two have dating back to a camp in North Carolina when he was growing up. That likely meant that there was just going to naturally be an influence from MJ on CP3 when he was learning to play basketball as a kid.

It’s hard to ignore the relationship between Jordan and CP3, and the Hornets owner has liked what he’s seen from the Suns floor general for a long time now.
